Something shifted for me when I stopped trying to write for everyone.
I was working with a travel company- doing the kind of deep-dive SEO analysis that most people never bother with. I pulled Google Search Console data, cross-referenced it with website analytics, looked at where buyers were actually located, what time of day they were active, what phrases they typed, what they bought and what they ignored.
Then I fed all of it into an AI and asked it to tell me who was on the other end of the screen.
What came back was unsettlingly specific. A named person. A life situation. A problem stated in the exact language their customers used. I started calling them Mr and Mrs Dursley and from that point, every piece of content we wrote was written directly to them.
