Inspiration for Creativity

How do Creative people Stay Creative?

Being creative can come with challenges. It’s important to feed your imagination and your knowledge to keep those ideas coming, this is just as important as staying abreast of trends and technological advances.

Creativity is not just for creatives. Creativity manifests itself in so many different ways. While I may enjoy drawing and photography, I still need to inspire myself on how to problem-solve my way around an obstacle. Creative thinking is the generation of new ideas across different areas of life, It draws upon or breaks rules and procedures to bring existing ideas together into a new idea. Creating new possibilities for something that already exists and in doing so, discovering or imagining something entirely new. Something we are all capable of in our lives and in our businesses.

My biggest source of creative inspiration is through travel, I was so happy to be able to take a city break recently with my daughter. We visited an exhibition at the marvellous Palazzo Franchetti entitled ‘Power and Prestige’ all about decorated clubs of the south seas… they were so fascinating to see up close with all the intricate carving. While traversing the streets we discovered an art gallery with some amazing work by Carole Feuerman, known as hyper-realism her work had quite an impact. We managed to squeeze so much culture into our weekend it was incredibly inspiring creatively, I managed to get some great shots with my camera

I also love old books, particularly those with illustrations…I particularly love to read collect children’s books, as I have a little collection of Maurice Sendak’s books which I love. You can read her blog about children’s books here.

So now I know that all these little adventures in curiosity all count as creative inspiration! and it’s part of growing my creative brain.

Meanwhile, I will continue to seek inspiration through my favourite channels, travel, books, art exhibitions, illustration and photography in particular.

Hopefully, I can provide my own kind of inspiration to my creative community in turn.

Creative Inspiration, staying curious.
